Introduction

My name is Mallory Six. I am a junior and a pre-occupational therapy major. I am trying to fulfill my upper division electives and I heard that this was a very interesting class so I decide to take it.

For me the most pressing issues of body image that we, in the 21st century, face is that of women not having any confidence in their body. All women see through society, television, magazines, etc is that they are supposed to be skinny, fit, sexy. Although this is not a bad thing to be, but it is very unrealistic for many women, which makes them feel horrible about their body.

My expectations for this course is to learn how to me more confident as a women and learn that not everyone looks like movie stars and its ok not to look like that.

1. What do women really see when they look in the mirror?... Is there a warped view?
2. What do people think the perfect women looks like?
3. What are some of the best ways women can feel confident with the body they have?
4. What percent of women actually have the perfect movie star body?
5. Why has society switched from loving big women to loving small women? From wanting women to be pale to wanting them to be tan?
